What an amazing occupation I have: one week I’m in the Highlands of Scotland, playing with the SCO in dinky community halls to enthralled audiences in charming and remote locations (read about the tour by clicking here), the next week I’m in Australia, sitting on the ferry, on my way to visit the beautiful Stradbroke Island, on a ‘reconnaissance mission’ for this year’s festival. The dolphins frolic around the boat about 3 minutes into the trip, the sun is glittering on the bay, and when I arrive at the other side, I can see at least 5 whales, spouting and splashing in the ocean.
The musical shenanigans on the island are due to start in one week today! It’s about now that I start taking a long, deep breath and start getting ready for the constant music making, chatting with the community, eating extraordinary local seafood and generally having a great time with all involved. There are always a few hiccups, some larger than others, but during the adrenalin rush of the week, somehow it all works out in one way or another, and the concerts all actually happen in the end..still a continuous source of amazement for me!
Looking forward to seeing you all there in a couple of weeks…
